MALAPPURAM: The district conference of the Communist Party of India (CPI) will begin here on Thursday. The four-day conference will discuss in depth the recent political changes in the State as well as across the world. The party flag will be carried to Malappuram from Veliyamkode and will reach the conference venue on Thursday evening. Veteran Communist leader N.C. Moideen will hoist the party flag at Kottappadi grounds at 5 p.m. on Thursday. A mass rally, accompanied by a volunteer march, will be taken out through Malappuram town on Friday evening. The rally will begin from Munduparamba Bypass Junction at 4 p.m. CPI State secretary Veliyam Bhargavan will inaugurate the public meeting at Kottappadi grounds on Friday evening. Forest Minister Benoy Viswom, Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran, CPI State assistant secretary C.N. Chandran, CPI national council member M. Rahmatullah, and Deputy Speaker Jose Baby will address the public meeting. Poet Balachandran Chullikkad will inaugurate a cultural meet on Saturday evening. Minister Benoy Viswom will preside over the meet. Poets P.K. Gopi, Alankode Leelakrishnan and Manamboor Rajanbabu will address the conference. A comedy show by Jayaraj Warrier and team and musical orchestra by Tajuddeen Vadakara will follow the cultural meet. The delegates’ meet will be held at Municipal bus-stand Auditorium on Saturday and Sunday. On Friday evening, drama troupe K.P.A.C. will stage its play, ‘Asthamikkatha Sooryan’, at Kottappadi grounds.
