Was organised to celebrate his victory in the recent Assembly elections Mandi: Authorities on Wednesday ordered a probe into reports of a banquet at a school here on Sunday to celebrate the victory of former Union Minister Sukh Ram’s son in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls with the government ban coming into effect. “I have directed SDM (Sadar) Ashwini Raj Shah to inquire into the incident and submit a report to me at the earliest. Based on the report, action will be taken,” Deputy Commissioner Onkar Sharma said. He said the action was taken on the basis of news reports and a complaint from the BJP about violation of the government directives on Tuesday banning political rallies and wedding functions in schools and colleges. The report said supporters of Congress MLA Anil Sharma had organised a banquet in Government Senior Secondary School in Kotli on Sunday to celebrate his victory in the recent Assembly elections. Mr. Sharma is the son of Sukh Ram who was allegedly involved in the telecom scam when crores of rupees were recovered from his residence in Delhi a decade ago. He announced retirement from electoral politics on the eve of the December election and on his request, the Congress gave the party ticket to his son. – PTI
