Five-year jail term for lawyer

NAMAKKAL: Principal District Judge A. Rathinavelu on Wednesday sentenced a lawyer to five years of imprisonment on the charges of attempting to rape a minor girl. According to the prosecution, Anbarasan of Rasipuram attempted to rape a 11-year-old girl in April 2006. Police arrested him under section 376 (2) (f) read with section 511 of Indian Penal Code. After hearing the arguments, the judge sentenced the lawyer to five-years of imprisonment and slapped a sum of Rs. 10,000 as fine.
