THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State general secretary M.T. Ramesh has demanded a CBI inquiry into the HMT land deal. Mr. Ramesh told reporters here on Tuesday as allegations had been raised against Industries Minister Elamaram Karim for his alleged involvement in the deal, a CBI probe was imperative to bring out the truth. The government had admitted in the High Court that it had committed lapses. Mr. Karim and Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran had ignored the Law Board’s opinion, he said. Many public sector undertakings at Eloor, Kalamassery and Aluva have turned sick units of late. This was part of a conspiracy to sell them to private entrepreneurs. The party would take out a march from HMT to Kalamassery to protect the industries and block the road at Kalamassery on February 4 to press for the demand for the CBI probe. It had also been decided to lay a siege to select village offices in protest against the price hike of essential items, he said.
