‘Silicon City’ for Rajasthan
Special Correspondent
JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje laid the foundation stone for a “Silicon City” at Khushkheda in Bhiwadi industrial area of Alwar district on Wednesday, calling for its development as an information technology hub providing employment to local youth.
Economic zones
Silicon City – proposed to be developed as an integrated IT destination – is one of the first special economic zones approved and notified by the State Government. It is being established by Somani Worsted Limited.
Ms. Raje said the people of the State expected big corporate houses to associate themselves with the social concerns while making investments here. She affirmed that Rajasthan was fast evolving as a leading State in the IT sector and attracting investors with its “excellent infrastructure and efficient financial management”.
Coming up in an area measuring 60 lakh square feet, Silicon City will have offices, residential and service apartments, and retail, recreation and wellness centres. SEZ promoter Ashish Somani said it would provide direct employment to 50,000 people.
