Madras to meet VBS

THANJAVUR: Madras will meet VBS in the final of the all-India inter-zone inter-university hockey tournament here on Thursday.

In the semifinals on Wednesday, Madras edged MG Kasi Vidyapith 1-0, while VBS defeated Sambalpur 3-2.

The results: Semifinals: Madras 1 (Raja) bt MG Kasi Vidyapith 0; VBS 3 (Amarnath Ram, Lakshmi Shankar Yadav, Janardhanan) bt Sambalpur 2 (Dharmendra Das, Salam). Third place: MG Kasi Vidyapith 7 bt Sambalpur 6 (via tie-breaker).
