Ernakulam claims title

KOCHI: Ernakulam, virtually the Union Christian College team from Aluva, jolted five-time champion Kollam 2-1 and regained the Kerala State senior women’s hockey title in Thiruvananthapuram.

B. Sajila and L. Aswathy scored for Ernakulam while Chithra netted Kollam’s consolation goal in the final at the Central Stadium.

Host Thiruvananthapuram finished third blanking Pathanamthitta 3-0. In the semifinals earlier, Ernakulam defeated Thiruvananthapuram 2-1 while Kollam, virtually the SAI team, blanked Pathanamthitta 3-0. — Principal Correspondent
