XIMB students land jobs with top-notch companies

Staff Reporter

They give emphasis to job profiles

BHUBANESWAR: Jobs are in abundant for students on the campus of Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB) but students seem to be in no hurry. More than 100 companies evinced interest to participate in the placement process, 75 were slotted out and of which 62 were likely to recruit before the end of the placement process. But more than the salaries, it was job profile that was the deciding factor on the first day of annual campus recruitment programme of XIMB.

“The kind of job profile offered by recruiters is generally not provided to freshers. We are expected to handle Rs. 500 crore of business, which is a challenging task,” said Sravan Nayar, who was offered a staggering annual package of 85,000 dollar by Singapore-based Olam International Ltd. P. T. Joseph, Director of XIMB, also agreed that the students were giving importance to profile rather than the size of the annual package.

A total of 248 offers were made to a batch of 118 students that led to an average of 2.1 offers per students in post graduate diploma in management stream. Finance sector attracted most of the students.

The campus saw a huge jump in the number of new recruiters with as many as 25 new companies visiting the campus for the first time, XIMB placement cell said.

“There were four international offers made and the highest offer of $ 85,000 was made by Olam International. The highest domestic offer of Rs. 16.5 lakh per annum was made by JP Morgan Chase. The average salary saw a considerable hike by 15 per cent to Rs. 10.12 lakh per annum,” the B-School said.
