Women in Congress seek more seats

DAVANGERE: The women’s wing of the Davangere district Congress unit will urge party leaders to allow women candidates to contest in at least two Assembly constituencies in the coming elections in the State.

President of the women’s wing Pushpa Suresh and secretary Lalithamma Thippeswamy told presspersons here on Wednesday that a meeting of women party workers of the district would be held on February 1 at Belavanur village in Davangere taluk, and apart from chalking out steps to strengthen the party, it would also discuss methods to put forth their demand for reservation of seats. Former MLA Shamanur Shivashankarappa was present.
