Three-day exhibition by women entrepreneurs

DAVANGERE: “Prerana,” an association of women entrepreneurs of the district, working under the aegis of the Vanitha Samaja here, has organised an exhibition of different products manufactured by them from February 3 to February 5.

The products on display will include readymade garments, bags, homemade products and embroidered sarees.

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, president of “Prerana” Nagarathna Jagadish said Canara Bank had sponsored the exhibition, and added that over 65 stalls would be put up at the Gundi Mahadevappa choultry. Women entrepreneurs from different places such as Hubli, Dharwad, Shimoga, Haveri and Chitradurga would take part in the exhibition.

“Prerana” has been organising such exhibitions in the city for the past 10 years which have received widespread appreciation from the people.

To a question, Ms. Nagarathna said the entrepreneurs had made turnover of more than Rs. 3 lakh last year.

During the exhibition, a training session on marketing has also been organised, in which chairperson of “Awake” (a non-government organisation) Sudha Prakash would educate them on various skills including product packaging.

The winner of the Best Entrepreneurship Award for 2007-2008 will also be announced at the valedictory function of the exhibition.
