Tidel Park tender in five weeks
SCRUTINY: C. Umashankar (Centre), Managing Director of ELCOT, sees the land map of the site for Information Technology Park in Madurai .
MADURAI: A tender for establishing a Tidel Park within the Information Technology Park premises at Ilandaikulam here would be called in about five weeks, Managing Director of Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) C. Umashankar said on Tuesday.
A sub-committee was currently working on the clauses in the agreement and the terms would be finalised soon.
His visit follows Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s announcement in the Assembly on Thursday that foundation stone for the IT Park in Madurai would be laid soon.
While ELCOT would spend around Rs. 300 crore for the Tidel Park that would come up on an area of around 10 acres, private players like HCL, Tesol and Honeywell would spend around Rs. 200 crore.
They would be given around five acres each.
If private players wanted more land, they could acquire it themselves, he said. ELCOT would not acquire any more land.
Expressing happiness about the existing infrastructure, he said that the district administration had more projects lined up.
