Samba paddy being purchased in delta

NAGAPATTINAM: The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) has started purchasing samba paddy with moisture content up to 20 per cent from the farmers at its 221 Direct Purchase Centres (DPCs) in Nagapattinam from Wednesday as per the orders of the Government, said Collector Tenkasi S. Jawahar, here.

He said that full price of Rs.825 per quintal for Grade A variety paddy and Rs.795 per quintal for common variety paddy would be given for paddy with moisture content up to 17 per cent under the decentralised procurement system of the Centre. The price includes an incentive of Rs.100 per quintal.

Paddy with moisture content would be accepted at the DPCs subject to a grade cut in the price of paddy as mentioned below.

For paddy with moisture content from 17 to 18 per cent with four per cent damaged and discoloured paddy the grade cut will be Rs.8.25 per quintal for Grade A variety and Rs.7.95 for common variety. For 18 to 19 per cent moisture the price cut will be Rs.16.50 for Grade A variety and Rs.15.90 for common variety. For 19 to 20 per cent moisture, the price cut will be Rs.24.75 for Grade A variety and Rs.23.85 for common variety.

For paddy with moisture content up to 17 per cent with four to five per cent damaged and discoloured paddy the price cut will be Rs.10.90 for Grade A variety per quintal and Rs.10.42 for common variety. For paddy with 17 to 18 per cent moisture, the price cut will be Rs.19.15 for Grade A variety and Rs.18.37 for common variety. For 18 to 19 per cent moisture content, the price cut will be Rs.27.40 for Grade A variety and Rs.26.32 for common variety.
