Chennai: Powered by Abhishek Jhunjhunwala’s 104 (129 balls), Kolkata Tigers sailed to a comfortable 123-run victory over Hyderabad Heroes in the ICL at Mayajaal on Wednesday. Electing to bat, Tigers recovered from a poor start thanks to a 99-run partnership for the third wicket between Abhishek and Rajiv Kumar, who scored 54 (55b). Useful contributions from captain Dasgupta (33) and S.S. Singh (23) also helped Tigers to total 275. In reply, the Hyderabad outfit caved in against the attack Sayed Akhlak Ahmed who picked up the tournament’s first five wicket haul for 34 runs. The only resistance came from Stuart Binny (64). The scores: Kolkata Tigers 279 for nine in 50 overs (Abhishek Jhunjhunwala 104, Rajiv Kumar 54, Deep Dasgupta 33, Kaushik Reddy four four 38) bt Hyderabad Heroes 156 in 34.1 overs (Stuart Binny 64, Sayed Akhlak Ahmed five for 38). Man of the match: Abhishek Jhunjhunwala. Points: Kolkata Tigers 5 (bonus 1); Hyderabad Heroes 1.
