East Bengal held

KOLKATA: Kingfisher East Bengal was held to a goalless draw by Air-India in a 14th round match of the I-League at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Wednesday.

The home side, which beat the league leader Dempo SC in the previous round at the same venue, failed to put together a consistent show.

This compounded East Bengal’s relegation fears as the team has only 12 points from 14 outings and remains tied with Viva Kerala, which is lying in the ninth position.

A better goal difference puts East Bengal in the eighth position. Air- India is in the sixth position with 16 points. Air- India goalkeeper Arnab Das Sarma was named the Man-of-the-Match. — Principal Correspondent
