Kalam to open college complex

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the platinum jubilee complex of St. Teresa’s College here on Sunday.

The new building named ‘St. Teresa’s Elysium’ includes auditoriums, conference hall, audio-visual room, research consultation centre and classrooms.

Principal Sr. Christabelle said here on Wednesday that the main auditorium had a seating capacity of 1,500 and the mini-auditorium 700.

She said that the complex was fully equipped to meet the demands of the 21st century.

The complex was part of the two projects conceived during the platinum jubilee year in 2000.

A women’s study centre was set up in 2002.

Sr. Christabelle said that Archbishop of Varapuzha Daniel Acharuparambil would conduct the blessing ceremony of the platinum jubilee complex at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Mahatma Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor Jancy James will preside over the meeting. Mayor Mercy Williams, Sebastian Paul, MP, K.V. Thomas, MLA, and Mohammed Hanish, Collector, will speak.

Dr. Kalam will also interact with students on the occasion.
