CoD places records before High Court

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Corps of Detectives (CoD) on Wednesday placed records relating to its investigation into a murder case before the Karnataka High Court.

A Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice, Cyriac Joseph, and Justice B.S. Patil had asked the CoD to place before it files relating to the murder of V.T. Vasanth Kumar, an employee of a poultry firm, in Bangalore in 2001.

Kumar’s parents, Jayamma and Thippanna, had petitioned the High Court after the K.G. Halli police of Bangalore filed a “C” report on the murder of their son.

The petitioners said they are from Valagerapura village in Kunigal taluk of Tumkur district.

They said their son was murdered on November 28, 2001 on the Ring Road near Hebbal. They said though they had registered a complaint with the K.G. Halli police, investigation was delayed. Later, the case was handed over to the CoD but no headway was made. They urged the court to order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation probe into the case.
