Mumbai: England Lions beat Mumbai XI by 30 runs in a warm-up game at the Brabourne Stadium, Cricket Club of India (CCI) here on Thursday. Seamer Charlie Shreck captured four wickets as Mumbai XI was bowled out for 230 in 64.5 overs. Former England captain and all-rounder Andrew Flintoff will join the team after its first Duleep Trophy match against Central Zone at Vadodara from February 3. Flintoff will join the team on February 10, but will not play in the second league match against West Zone or the final, should the England Lions team make the last match of the competition. According to an ECB release Flintoff was due to reach Mumbai in mid February with a Lancashire CCC academy squad for a pre-season batting clinic, but he will now meet up with the England Lions in Vadodara where he’ll have the opportunity to work with the ECB’s coaching and support staff. Commenting on the news David Parsons, ECB Performance Director and Head Coach of the England Lions, said: “We’re delighted Andrew Flintoff is in a position to join up with the England Lions. His rehabilitation programme is going very well and he’s been working extremely hard over the past few months to get back to full fitness. “This trip will provide him with an excellent opportunity to receive support from the ECB’s coaching and science and medicine support staff.” The scores: England Lions 311 for eight decl. and 114 (Dhaval Kulkarni five for 33) beat Mumbai XI 165 and 230 (O. Gurav 46, C. Shreck four for 52).
