PUDUCHERRY: Essay writing and drawing competition for school students, awareness programme for two-wheeler riders, and rallies marked the Oil and Conservation Fortnight celebrations of the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) in Puducherry. The programmes organised during the last 15 days in Puducherry, Karaikal, Mayiladuthurai and Ramnathapuram were aimed at creating awareness of ways to conserve oil and gas. Besides conducting competitions for schoolchildren, GAIL also organised a camp for two-wheeler riders to give help them to conserve energy by tuning their vehicles right. U.S. Rao, officer in-charge, GAIL, Puducherry, inaugurated the camp. Students of Annai Velankanni School, Reddiyarpalayam, took out a rally holding placards to spread the message of the importance of conserving fossil fuel. GAIL (India) is India’s flagship natural gas company, integrating all aspects of the natural gas value chain (including exploration and production, processing, transmission, distribution and marketing) and its related services, company sources said.
