AIDSO protests against ‘anti-education’ policies

Special Correspondent

FOR BETTER EDUCATION: Members of the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation submitting a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Adoni Syed Saleem in Raichur on Friday.

GULBARGA: The All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) on Friday staged demonstrations here as part of an All India Students’ Demands Day.

Students from various colleges and schools took out a procession and staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office protesting against the fee hike, the proposed Bill to allow foreign educational institutions into the country, the introduction of sex education in schools and a host of other “anti-education” policies pursued by the Government.

In a memorandum, AIDSO said that the increase in fees had affected a lot of students, particularly those from the middle and lower-middle income groups. Higher education would become commercial with the entry of foreign universities, they said.

The memorandum said that sex education would only “pollute” the minds of children.

Raichur Staff Correspondent reports:

Members of the AIDSO district unit staged a dharna here on Friday demanding that the Government take action to construct a building for the Government Degree College in Raichur. About 50 activists, led by Anjaneya, vice-president of the district unit of AIDSO, took out a procession and staged a dharna at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

They submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Adoni Syed Saleem in this regard.
