Chitradurga: Staff of the city municipal council (CMC) here ended their pen-down strike on Friday with the transfer of municipal Commissioner T. Jayanna. They launched their strike on January 8 urging the Government to transfer Mr. Jayanna accusing him of being unprofessional and corrupt. Mr. Jayanna has been transferred to the district urban development cell as project director, while V.V. Vastrad, project director of the cell, has been made Commissioner of the CMC. On January 5, seven employees, including office administrator Mahantesh, were suspended on the charge of manhandling Mr. Jayanna inside his office. Mr. Jayanna had filed a police complaint. He had also lodged a complaint with Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas. The officials were suspended subsequently. After police action, they were remanded in judicial custody and later released on bail. Other employees of the CMC launched a pen-down strike seeking the transfer of Mr. Jayanna.
