‘Remove bogus names from voters’ list’

Staff Correspondent

BIDAR: Prakash Khandre, former Bhalki MLA, on Friday asked Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta to take steps to delete bogus names from the voters’ list for Bhalki Assembly constituency before releasing it on February 7.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Khandre said that the list had thousands of bogus names.

He urged the Deputy Commissioner to take severe action against the officials responsible for the inclusion of bogus names. At polling booth 56 in Bhalki, he said that names of students of Bhalki Rural Engineering College and Haralaiah Polytechnic College had been included without their fathers’ names and other details.

This was an attempt to include bogus names in the list , he said. He warned of an agitation in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and also in front of the State Election Commissioner’s Office if steps were not taken to delete bogus names from the list.
