Tailor-made projects formulated: Karur Collector

KARUR: All efforts will be taken to create awareness among the public on the welfare measures and development schemes undertaken by the government.

Officials will be sensitised to the needs of the public, Collector T.N. Venkatesh said here on Thursday.

Public participation

Speaking on the occasion of the opening of the multi-media exhibition of government achievements, Mr. Venkatesh said people could visit the exhibition, organised by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, to learn about the numerous schemes being implemented by the State government for the benefit of the needy and the downtrodden.

Tailor-made schemes suited for each sector had been formulated and implemented by the government and the benefits could be maximised if they reached the targeted beneficiaries in time. For that, the multimedia exhibitions played a crucial role.

Popularisation

Declaring open the exhibition, Karur MP K.C. Palanisamy said the expo was an integrated popularisation of the various schemes and achievements over the past months.

People could clear their doubts and get the required information on schemes from the officials of the department concerned under one roof. That was the important benefit of the exhibition.

On the first day of the 10-day exhibition, the MP disbursed government welfare measures to the tune of Rs.11.46 lakh to 95 beneficiaries.

Cultural programmes

Cultural programmes and entertainment events would be held in the evenings, according to Public Relations Officer, L. Girirajan.

District Panchayat Chairman Poovai Ramesh Babu, Karur Municipality Chairperson P. Sivakamasundari, Karur RDO R. Seethalakshmi and others participated in the programme.
