Works identified under scheme

ARIYALUR: An official meeting for identifying works under the ‘Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam’ in T. Pazhur panchayat union was held at Cholanmadevi, near here, on Thursday.

Collector V.M. Xavier Chrisso Nayagam, who presided over the meeting, said desilting and deepening of the local Chinna eri would be taken up at an expenditure of Rs.20 lakh.

This apart, works such as laying of cement roads, provision of street light facility and setting up fish farms and construction of libraries, sports ground, culverts, bathing ghats and additional building for schools would begin shortly.

He said orders had been issued for distribution of old age pension to 218 persons in the village. Nine ante-natal mothers would receive financial grant under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Memorial Maternity Scheme.
