Sewing teachers seek jobs
Staff Reporter
PUDUKOTTAI: Unemployed women, qualified in Tailoring Teacher Course, have floated a district-level forum to press the State government to fill up the posts of sewing teachers lying vacant in government schools.
Secretary of the newly launched ‘Unemployed Sewing Teachers’ Association’ R. Thenmozhi said hundreds of women qualified in the above course were unemployed for the last several years. The State government should fill up the vacant posts in the middle, high and higher secondary schools, taking into consideration the scope for skilled manpower in future. There were about 1,000 women qualified in the course.
The association, at its meeting held after its inaugural here recently, adopted a resolution urging the State government to take immediate steps. The meeting also adopted another resolution to start its district branches in the State.
Earlier, V. Jamunarani was installed district president of the association; V. Bhuvaneswari as vice-president; R. Thenmozhi as secretary; R. Valarmathi as deputy secretary and S. Hemalatha as treasurer.
