AOC Centre to clash with SAI

HYDERABAD: AOC Centre will clash with Sports Authority of India (STC, Secunderabad) in the final of the fifth Rajiv Gandhi memorial invitation hockey tournament at the Gymkhana grounds on Saturday.

In the first semifinal on Friday, SAI defeated Nav Bharath 3-2 via tie-breaker after the teams were locked goalless at full-time. In the tie-breaker, K. Satyamaheshwar Rao, T.B.G. Tilak and T.N. Sudheer scored for the winner while R. Chandan Singh and Prahalad Singh were successful for the losers.

In another semifinal, AOC recorded a comfortable 4-0 win over Osmania University with Bharat Pannar, L. Ramesh, S. Hori and R. Swamy finding the target.

Easy for Karimnagar

Karimnagar recorded a six-wicket win over Warangal in the inter-District Twenty20 Kasani Krishna Mudiraj memorial cricket tournament here.

The scores:

At Gymkhana: Warangal 108 in 19.3 overs (Farooq 49) lost to Karimnagar 109 for four in 17.1 overs.

Nizamabad 101 in 19.4 overs lost to Adilabad 103 for five (Srikanth 46 not out).

At Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal): Khammam 153 for nine in 20 overs bt Nalgonda 138 for three in 20 overs (Azmath 47).

Mahaboobnagar 154 for five in 20 overs (Mohd Mukthar Ali 71) bt Medak 117.

Yash, Alekhya win

Yash Puri downed a fighting Parth Lal 2-4, 5-4, 5-3 in the boys’ under-12 final of the League championship organised by Advantage Tennis Academy here.

In the girls’ under-12 final, C. Alekhya got the better of Raksha Bode 2-4, 5-4(8), 4-1 to clinch the honours.

Cricket tournament

Wells Fargo cricket tournament for corporates will be organised from February 2 at different grounds in the twin cities. Sixteen corporate teams will take part.

Bridge tournaments

Fateh Maidan Club will conduct Master Pairs Bridge event on February 3 from 10.00 a.m. on its premises. Contact 9848081692.

Easy win for Seicom

Seicom recorded a comfortable, 57-run win over Srinivasa Institute of Technology & Management Studies in the first match of the Acme Twenty-20 corporate cricket tournament in Tirupati on Friday.

The scores: Seicom 171 for five in 20 overs (Karthik 88) bt SITMS 114 for eight.
