Bagan beats Churchill

KOLKATA: Mohun Bagan beat Churchill Brothers 2-1 in a 14th round match of the I-League football at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Thursday.

Baichung Bhutia opened the scoring for Mohun Bagan in the fourth minute before Habibur Rahman Mondal increased the lead in the 31st minute. Churchill Brothers pulled one back in the 37th minute through Mboyo Iyomi.

The win, seventh in the tournament, helped Bagan tally 24 points after 14 outings and move into the fourth position nudging Mahindra United. Churchill Brothers remained in the second position with 26 points from 14 matches. Bagan next plays Salgaocar SC at home while Churchill Brothers travels to meet Viva Kerala.
