“The songs in the CD were recorded in her house nearly 48 years ago”

CHENNAI: A book containing compositions of noted composer Ambujam Krishna and a CD comprising songs from the book were released at a function here on Thursday.

Speaking after releasing the book titled ‘Gitamala – Vol 5’ and the CD, N. Murali, Managing Director, The Hindu, said the compositions of Ambujam Krishna were sung by stalwarts such as Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, Musiri Subramania Iyer, Dr. S. Ramanathan and Madurai T. N. Seshagopalan.

She was a spontaneous and intuitive composer. She had composed more than 600 songs in various languages.

Bhakthi and divinity were the underlying factors in her compositions, he said.

Though a Vaishnavite, she had composed songs on deities such as Vinayagar, Meenakshi, Siva and Muruga.

Radha Parthasarathy, daughter of Ambujam Krishna, said the songs in the CD were recorded in her house nearly 48 years ago, which were sung by Ananthalakshmi Sadagopan, a close friend of Ambujam Krishna.

Suresh Krishna, Managing Director, Sundaram Fasteners and son of Ambujam Krishna, recalled his mother’s association with Ananthalakshmi Sadagopan and said the latter was a mentor and a great inspiration to his mother.
