Free house site pattas distributed

KANCHEEPURAM: House site pattas worth Rs.10.84 crore were distributed free of cost to 291 persons in Kundrathur panchayat union area on the outskirts of Chennai on Thursday.

Distributing the pattas at a function held at Padappai, Labour Welfare Minister T. M. Anbarasan said that in the last 19 months, around 3 lakh house site pattas had been distributed free of cost to the beneficiaries all over the State.

In Kancheepuram district, free pattas have been given to a total of 10,833 persons so far.

Steps have been initiated to give free pattas to another 1000 families.

Free land scheme

Moreover, 1,743 farmers in Kancheepuram district have benefited from the ‘2-acre land’ scheme launched by the DMK government.

A total of 2,198.29 acres of land were distributed to the beneficiaries.

Mr. Anbarasan claimed that Kancheepuram district had attracted more than 100 industries multi-national and national.

Industrial activity

The spurt in industrial activity led to generation of job opportunities, direct and indirect, for more than 1.25 lakh youth. At the same time, monthly financial assistance was being extended to 33,739 jobless youth in the district, he added.

The Minister also distributed district-level awards to traditional and folk artists.

Participating in the function, Collector Santosh K.Misra said more than 10,000 new applications for old age pension were received at special OAP camps conducted in different parts of the district.

Majority of the applications were scrutinized immediately and OAP sanction orders were issued to the deserving applicants, he added.

Sriperumpudur MP A. Krishnasamy, MLA D. Yasodha, district panchayat chairman T. Duraisamy, Kundrathur panchayat union chairman A. Manoharan and others participated in the function.
