Triumphant end to Madras’ campaign



CHAMPION STUFF: Madras, which won the South Zone inter-university tournament on Thursday.

Chennai: Madras capped a good tournament with a win in the final of the South-Zone inter-university cricket tournament, which concluded here on Thursday.

Maaruthi Raghav was the standout performer in both the semifinals and the final.

He scored 39 runs in the semifinal win over Osmania, and made a century against SRM University in the final.

Following the completion of the South Zone event, the all-India inter-zone university cricket tournament will commence on February 2.

The final will take place on February 6 and 7, at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

The losing semifinalists will clash on the same days at the Presidency College Grounds.
