Harini reigns

CHENNAI: S. Harini of S.R.M. College won the 26th Rachel Paranjothy Open chess tournament for women here on Friday. Harini, who had 7 points from eight rounds, remained unbeaten.

At the prize giving ceremony, the Physical Director of Ethiraj College, Dr. (Mrs.) Neeta Seelan welcomed the gathering and Ms, T.K. Rukmini, women’s secretary of IOB Union, gave away the prizes.

Final placings: 1. S. Harini 7; 2-3. J. Mohanapriya, J. Saranya 6.5; 4-9. R. Bharathi, J. Janani, M.R. Sangeetha, G. Apurva, R.K. Shruke, Amina Taj 6 each; 10-16. V. Malvigha, C.H. Savetha, M. Kushboo, M. Mahalakshmi, V. Janu, R. Abirami, N. Hemapriya 5.5 each.
