Orissa
Bhubaneswar: Orissa today cleared four projects worth Rs 2,104 crore, including a Rs.838-crore project from UK-based Linde Group’s Indian arm, official sources said. The projects were cleared at a meeting of the State-level single window clearance authority, which referred seven other proposals involving more than Rs.1,000 crore investment each, for consideration of the high-level clearance committee headed by the Chief Minister, they said. With the clearance, British Oxygen Company (India) - a sister concern of Britain’s Linde group - is all set to establish a unit for manufacturing industrial gases at Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur district with an investment of Rs. 838 crore. The company proposes to produce 2,665 tonnes of oxygen, nitrogen and argon gases per day which are required by the steel plants in the industrial belt. Linde group is considered to be the world’s largest engineering and industrial gas manufacturing company. Another project involving an investment of Rs. 911 crore by Balasore Alloys Ltd seeks to expand the ferro alloys capacity of its plant at Balgopal Industrial Area from 57 MVA to 129 MVA, besides setting up a coal-based 135 MW captive power plant, the sources said. Hind Metals and Industries’ proposal to set up a 60-MW power plant at the cost of Rs. 237.19 crore and Salivahan Green Energy’s plan to establish a 20-MW power unit with an investment of Rs. 82 crore have also been passed. - PTI
