Training programme for teachers

PUDUCHERRY: The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), New Delhi, conducted a three-day training programme for 40 teachers from various schools in the region. The purpose of the training programme was to educate the teachers on the necessity of link culture with education for the benefit of students, S. Jeyaraman, direct teacher trainer with CCRT, said.

He said the participants were imparted lessons in painting and sculpturing, temple architecture, classical and folk dances, puppetry and singing patriotic songs. The participants were given hands on training, he added.

A team of recipients of CCRT’s Cultural Talent Search Scholarship gave performances of dances such as Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kathak and various folk dances, he said. Participants were given certificates, he added.

R. Vanjulavalli, Joint Director of School Education, inaugurated the training programme on January 28. V. Krishnan, officer on special duty, and S. Calyanni, principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Kathirkamam, offered felicitations.

The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training functions under the direct supervision of the Union Ministry of Art and Culture.
