Tourism projects in Kolli Hills

NAMAKKAL: The tourism in Kolli Hills will soon get the much-needed fillip with the State Government agreeing in principal to provide Rs. 1 crore for various tourism development activities.
The fund would be utilised mainly for creating more tourist amenities in major sightseeing spots, establishing new parks, lighting and setting up of eco-friendly green cottages in the hills, Collector G. Sundaramurthi said.
A major portion of the fund, Rs. 29 lakh, would be spent for creating a children’s park and a herbal garden near the newly-established boat house in Vasalurpatti Lake. Adequate lighting would also be provided.
Officials said that the tourist inflow to the hills was on rise after the creation of boating facility. The creation of more facilities would bring in a wave of new tourists.
