Officials asked to inspect poultry farms and create awareness on the need for hygiene Owners told to report bird deaths, if any, to district administration DAVANGERE: Deputy Commissioner M.B. Dyaberi has directed the Deputy Director of the Karnataka Land Army Corporation, Karhanume Gowda, to ensure that quality is maintained in all projects assigned to it. Chairing a public grievances meeting here on Saturday, Mr. Dyaberi said the main reason for a check dam in Jagalur being washed away was that substandard material was used in its construction. He said he would not tolerate any more lapses on the part of implementing agencies and directed the official to ensure that material of good quality was used in the execution of the project. Mr. Gowda said the check dam at Jagalur was washed away owing to heavy rainfall and not because of substandard work. Mr. Dyaberi, however, said that he had already read the technical report and was aware of the exact reason. He asked him to reconstruct the dam properly. Mr. Dyaberi instructed officials of the Veterinary Department and tahsildars to visit poultry farms in the district and advise owners and workers to maintain cleanliness. He asked owners to inform the district administration in case of bird deaths. Photo identity cardsDeputy Director of Food and Civil Supplies Ravindra said the process of issuing photo identity cards to ration cardholders was going on in the district. Many people were demanding receipts for the Rs. 45 collected by the department for issuing the cards. He also said the Government had not distributed any receipt books for this. Mr. Dyaberi instructed the department concerned to have seals made for the purpose and use them on the ration cards. The Deputy Commissioner warned the district registrar for demanding money from a couple to register their marriage. He said he had received a complaint that the official had demanded Rs. 650 from the couple, when the actual fee was only Rs. 120.
