Belgaum
Belgaum: The Government has cancelled the appointment of 62 doctors practicing ayurveda, unani, siddha and homoeopathy systems of medicine in the district. Announcing this here on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner M.E. Shivalingmurthy said the decision was taken as the appointments were not made in a transparent manner. The Department of Health and Family Welfare had appointed 62 doctors on contract basis last year. He said a sub-committee was constituted under the then District Health and Family Welfare officer to look into the appointments. But, it had delayed submitting its report, which only made the district administration more suspicious, he said. He said fresh interviews would be held for all the 62 posts for three days from February 14 in a transparent manner. No fresh applications would be invited, he said.
