HELP AT HAND: A cancer patient being helped by the police after she suddenly took ill at the ‘Janata Darshan’ in Bangalore on Saturday.

Bangalore: The Governor’s Janata Darshan has gone hi-tech with the process of receiving and sorting of applications getting computerised.

The Janata Darshan on Saturday had applications being received in six different counters, which were further split into 27 sub-divisions. With all applications being fed into the computer, the applicants will now have to bring only the print-out with details of their complaints for any follow-up work.

Cancer patients

This week’s Janata Darshan saw 107 cancer patients seeking relief. Vijayalakshmi Deshpande and her team of doctors from the Kidwai Institute of Oncology, who were at the venue, decided to admit 50 of them to the hospital. The Government is thinking of a package in public-private partnership to help cancer patients on the lines of one already in place for heart patients. As many as 85 heart patients have been given relief estimated at Rs. 17.5 lakh so far. Saturday’s grievance hearing programme saw many physically-challenged people attending it. A delegation of them gave a memorandum to the Governor asking that the increase in bus pass fare to Rs. 560 from Rs. 250 be dropped.
