Sukhbir Singh Badal CHANDIGARH: The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab would purchase land or buildings from its own resources to set up modern offices equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure at every district headquarters by the end of this year. It would ensure that the party cadre is in regular contact with the Central leadership as well as the State Government. This was disclosed by the newly-elected president of the party, Sukhbir Singh Badal, who on a previous occasion went on record asserting that the Akali-BJP alliance would now stay in power for at least 25 years in Punjab. He said that creation of a data base on scientific lines was high on his priority, for which he planned to activate the party machinery at the earliest. “Under no circumstances would the party workers feel neglected or unwanted,” he emphasised. Mr. Badal said that the district offices would be provided with an efficient and effective communication link with the party’s main office in Chandigarh. The party would monitor the performance of the government and provide a regular feedback. “These offices would also impart training to upcoming leaders,” he said reminding that it was through organising the youth that the Akali-BJP alliance was able to return to power in 2007. Mr. Badal said that the top leadership of the ruling alliance in the State had decided to form co-ordination committees of both parties at the district and block levels. He said both parties were of the belief that the respective cadre should get priority in the government functioning for which all-out attempts would be initiated to address their grievances.
