No need for licence for airgun
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: Airguns do not come under the purview of the Indian Firearms Act. Hence, there is no need for a licence to own it.
Small pellets are fired from these guns (using compressed air) to scare birds and monkeys or for target practice by professionals.
Under the Indian Firearms Act, while firearms (pistols and revolvers) with .22 and .32 bore are classified as permissible bores, those with higher bores such as .38 are prohibited. Firearms with permissible bores can be owned by civilians, while those with prohibited bores are used only by police and Defence personnel.
