Adopt different timings, colleges told
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: The city region of the APSRTC, for the convenience of engineering college students travelling in RTC buses and to ease traffic during peak hours, has urged colleges and educational institutions functioning on the city fringes to operate in different timings. There are over 35 educational institutions on the L.B Nagar and Ibrahimpatnam route alone and as a result, RTC buses plying on this stretch during peak hours are packed to the brim, especially with students, said RTC Hyderabad Regional Manager S. Nagaraju.
“We have urged the college managements to amend their timings and commence a batch at 8 a.m. and another at 9.30 a.m. This will help the RTC operate additional trips to colleges and avoid inconvenience to students,” he said. For the convenience of commuters, Customer Relation Officers, along with 18 private traffic guides, would be deployed to ensure proper stopping of buses at bus stages and smooth flow of traffic on the stretch, Mr. Nagaraju said. Similar interactions would be held with commuters under phased manner at Uppal crossroads, Mehdipatnam, Lakdikapul, Koti and Central Bus station and their suggestions would be collected.
