PUDUKOTTAI: Collector D. Uthirakkumaran distributed assistance to the tune of Rs.5.67 lakh to three women self-help groups at the valediction of the humanism week celebrations here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Uthirakkumaran explained the importance of humanism week celebrated every year from January 24-30. He presented financial assistance provided by the Tamil Nadu Adidravida Housing Development Corporation (THADCO) to three women SHGs — Vidivelli, Mullai and Sooriyakanthi of Puvarakudi — for the purchase of milch animals.
He also distributed sewing machines to a dozen persons belonging to the weaker sections. He also handed over prizes to the winners of the various competitions conducted in connection with the humanism week.
District Adidravida Welfare Committee member C. Easwaran, THADCO manager G. Shenbagavalli and others spoke.
