Yuvraj backs ‘young’ side

Brisbane: Indian vice-captain Yuvraj Singh said on Saturday he would be completely fit from a strained left knee “in a couple of days.”

The left-handed batsman could be ready for the day-night game here against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

Yuvraj also believed that he would recover from his disappointing form in the Test series.

Consistency

He said India needed to be consistent in all departments of the game since Sri Lanka was also a very efficient side. He admitted that the Indian team lacked experience, particularly in batting, but added the young cricketers had an opportunity to learn and improve.

“They will grow up on this tour. We are a hard-working young team with a lot of aggression. It is the best one-day outfit. If you look at most of this team, it is the same team that won the World Twenty20 title,” he added. — Special Correspondent
