Muthu scores a hat-trick

CHENNAI: Muthu’s hat-trick helped AG’s Office to hold Indian Bank to a 3-3 draw in a CFA senior division match at the Nehru stadium on Saturday.

Each time Indian Bank forged ahead, Muthu neutralised the lead. The Bank went ahead in the 3rd minute when Santhakumar shot home from a midfield through ball by Sumanraj. But four minutes later, Muthu, a speedy mover, found the room to dribble past two defenders to slot home. Nirmal Kumar then in the 12th minute put the Bank ahead but Muthu restored parity within two minutes from a Selvakumar cross.

Santhakumar’s powerful shot in the 63rd minute gave the Bank one more occasion to lead. There was no stopping Muthu however as he capped a solo to deny Indian Bank a win.

Earlier in the first division, Central Excise trounced Southern Railway 3-0. Sathish (two) and Devarajan were the scorers.
