Lovers attempt suicide

NEW DELHI: A married jeweller and an undergraduate commerce student, said to be in love, allegedly attempted suicide by consuming phenyl at Shalimar Bagh here over the weekend.

The two were found unconscious in a Santro car parked on Gurdwara Road and rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital by a Police Control Room van. According to the police, Maninder and Heena loved each other but the girl’s parents were strongly opposed to the marriage.

Her parents refused to budge and in the meanwhile Maninder was married off by his family. The two, however, continued to meet without the knowledge of their families.
