KOCHI: Kottayam district has bagged the overall championship in the mentally-challenged section in the 10th State Special Schools Arts Festival that concluded here on Saturday. Schools representing the district bagged 70 points to lift the title. In the hearing impaired section, Kozhikode district emerged winners with 256 points. In the visually-challenged (secondary) section, Kasaragod district bagged the championship with 58 points. Kottayam district won the championship in the visually-challenged (primary) section with 142 points. In the visually-challenged section (school-level performance), students of Government School for the Blind, Olassa; HKPM School, Kottapuram; and Aluva Blind School emerged winners. In the mentally-challenged section, Pratheeksha Training Centre, Irinjalakuda, won the top position with 36 points. P S. Shyla, Ernakulam district panchayat president, inaugurated the valedictory function. C.K. Manisankar, Deputy Mayor, Kochi Corporation, and others attended the meeting.
