Centre’s order on sealing lauded

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The politics of announcements relating to sealing, de-sealing and demolitions in the Capital moved a step further on Saturday with the Delhi Cabinet lauding the efforts made by the Union Urban Development Ministry to bring an order suspending demolitions and sealing and ordering de-sealing of sealed properties.

Welcoming the order issued by the Union Ministry on Thursday, the Delhi Cabinet said it had directed the local civic bodies to de-seal properties and maintain the status quo in respect of all encroachments and unauthorised developments in respect of unauthorised colonies, village “abadi” area and its extension which existed on March 31, 2002.

‘Result of court orders’

This resolution passed by the Delhi Cabinet at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit also said that the demolition operations were a result of court orders and now the order by the Union Ministry would effectively ensure that the citizens of Delhi do not have to live with a sense of fear with regard to sealing or demolition of their properties.

Praises for the people

The resolution also lauded the people of Delhi for bearing with the difficulties with fortitude and clarified that the Central order was aimed at providing time for proper implementation of the new Master Plan for Delhi-2021.
