KOZHIKODE: E. Ahamed, Union Minister of State for External Affairs, will inaugurate an international workshop on community participation in palliative care at Manjeri in Malappuram district on Tuesday. The workshop will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday. Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, K. Sureshkumar, director, Institute of Palliative Medicine, Government Medical College, Kozhikode, said that David Praill, Chief Executive Officer, Help the Hospices and head of World Wide Palliative Care Alliance, will formally inaugurate the workshop. Paloli Muhammed Kutty, Minister for Local Self-Government Institutions, and P.K. Sreemathy, Minister for Health, will attend the seminar organised in connection with the workshop. Project Kiran, a project to improve the quality of Palliative Care in the country through capacity building, advocacy and research, will be inaugurated by Cecilia Spulveda, chief of cancer division, World Health Organisation, Geneva.
