Annadurai remembered on his death anniversary

PUDUKOTTAI: Community feast at temples marked the observance of the death anniversary of the former Chief Minister the late Annadurai in Pudukottai, Perambalur and Ariyalur districts. Party cadres garlanded the statue of Anna at several centres in these districts.

In Pudukottai, the Union Minister for Environment and Forests S. Regupathi took part in the community feast at Sri Muthumariamman Temple in Tiruvappur near here. The District Collector D. Uthirakkumaran was among those who participated.

Cadres of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by its District secretary Periyannan Arasu, garlanded the statue of Anna here. Workers of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), led by MLA R. Nedunchezhian, offered similar tributes.

Cadres of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), led by its union secretary Mohammed Mohideen garlanded the statue. District secretary of All India Samuthuva Party Srinivasan were among those who garlanded the statue.

The community feast was held at the Siruvachur Sri Mathura Kali Amman Temple near here.

Revenue Divisional Officer S. Swamidoss was among those who participated in the feast.

Cadres of different parties paid their homage at 10 centres in the district. In Perambalur, Town secretary of AIADMK R. T. Ramachandran; District deputy secretary of MDMK Durai Raj; District secretary of the All India Samuthuva Katchi Vallatharasu garlanded the statue of Anna.

At Jayamkondam, former Rajya Sabha MP Siva Subramnainam (DMK); District treasurer of MDMK Veera Pughazhendi and union secretary of DMDK Deva garlanded the statue.

A large number of DMK cadres took out a procession and garlanded the statue of Anna here. Municipal Chairperson S. Vijayalakshmi; former MLA Arumugam, Town secretary Pon. Pakkiri and Youth wing secretary Ilayarajan were among those who paid their tributes.

Former MLA of AIADMK P. Ilavazhagan; District secretary of Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam (DMDK) Rama Jayavel; District secretary of the MDMK K. Chinnappa were among those who offered similar tributes.
