Vocational training for adolescent girls on

A sum of Rs.11 lakh sanctioned for the programme

PERAMBALUR: A special training programme to ensure the economic uplift of the adolescent girls will be implemented under the Centrally-sponsored ‘Kishori Sakthi Yojana’ scheme in the district.
A sum of Rs.11 lakh has been sanctioned for the programme at the rate of Rs.1.10 lakh for each of the 10 blocks, according to the Project Officer, Integrated Child Development Scheme, S. Revathy.
The programme seeks to impart special training to improve the skills of the adolescent girls who will be divided into two age-groups as those in the 11-15 years and others in the 15-18 years of age.
The girls will be trained in vocational skills including handicrafts, embroidery and other needle-works.
To nurture skills
Special exhibitions will be organised to promote their products and nurture their skills.
Special District Revenue Officer (Land Acquisition) M. Narayanan gave away the cheque to the block-level resource-persons at a function held here recently.
