Dindi attracting maximum number of tourists The resorts were developed with Rs. 4.50 crores Dindi (East Godavari): Konaseema in the district, known for its scenic beauty with coconut groves, canals and islands, is going to add another feather in its cap with Harita coconut resorts in Dindi, which is becoming a popular tourist spot. Similar to Kerala’s coconut groves and resorts, Dindi is also attracting maximum number of tourists throughout the year. Minister for Information, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Anam Ramnarayana Reddy on Sunday inaugurated Harita coconut resorts being maintained by the AP Tourism Development Corporation. Attended by Ministers Jakkampudi Rammohana Rao, Pilli Subashchandra Bose and Gollapalli Suryarao along with Amalapuram MP G.V. Harsha Kumar, MLC R. Padmaraju and APTDC MD Remond Peter, the programme was well attended by local people. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ramnarayana Reddy said that they had developed Harita with Rs.4.50 crores and intended to bring water sports and also introduce speed boats to attract more tourists. He said that they were going to arrange a jetty and provide lighting facility with Rs.1.50 lakhs. He said that plant were afoot to develop Dindi, connecting Antarvedi, Peda Mallam and Sivakodi Lanka as one tourist package. Mr. Ramnarayana Reddy also announced that his department was going to introduce special boat with 150 seats in Dindi which would be having two conference halls. He said that they were sending APTDC MD to Kerala for further study the house boats in coconut groves. He said that they were planning to introduce agriculture tourism with the support of warehousing and marketing departments. Mr. Suryrarao said that Dindi had increased the beauty of Konaseema and asked the Tourism Department to concentrate more and exploit the resources in the region. Mr. Harsha Kumar said that from 2005 February, the area had developed and tourism potential had increased tremendously. He sought development of Odalarevu, Korangi beaches. ZP Chairman Ch. Venugopala Krishna, MPP Kasi Visweswara Satyanarayana and others also participated.
