VICTORY DANCE: Members of the Payyannur College team that has scored the highest points in the Kannur University Union arts festival that concluded at Payyannur on Sunday. PAYYANNUR: Payyannur College was all set to win the overall title of the Kannur University Union arts festival that would conclude here tonight. Payyannur Collge was way ahead in its score tally as it bagged 118 points when 44 of the 47 items were completed by 7 p.m. Nehru Arts and Science College, Kanhangad, was poised to lift the runner-up title with 84 points when competitions in three more items remained to be completed. Gurudev Arts and Science College, Mathil, was in the third position with 72 points. Minister for Health P.K. Sreemathy inaugurated the closing ceremony of the festival in the evening. University Union chairman T.V. Prasad presided over the function. M. Prakashan, MLA, distributed prizes. Sajini Valsaraj of Sir Syed Institute, Taliparamba, and D. Vaishnavi of S.N. College, Kannur, shared the ‘Nritha Prathibha’ title. T.V. Ranya of Mattannur College was adjudged the ‘Gana Prathibha’.
